So, if you are a windows XP user you have probably noticed the message popping up telling you there is no longer support and updates for XP. Its true.. Microsoft have ended updates for the Windows XP operating system.
What you need to do now..
There is nothing stopping you continuing with Windows XP however we would advise against it. Since April there will be no new security patches, application updates or any kind of support from Microsoft. What this means is XP users will be open to malware and viruses like never before. If you really must stick with XP then here are 3 things you must do:
Here is what you need to do:
- Stop using Internet Explorer to browse online. Use a 3rd party browser like Google's Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. IE (Internet Expoler) is part of windows and so no new updates.. DO NOT USE IE FOR ONLINE BANKING!!
- Get rid of Outlook Express. If you collect you mail using OE stop and move to a 3rd party Email program like Thunderbird where you will still receive updates.
- Make sure you have a good anti-virus and keep it updated. Run regular scans.
